Dermal Filler FAQ

What is foot cushioning dermal filler?

As we age, foot pain and discomforts become increasingly common because we lose fat pads at the bottom of our foot. Medical Cosmetic Clinic can provide you with a quick, safe, and easy solution to your pain using dermal fillers in the foot. Foot cushioning dermal filler is a non-surgical procedure with minimal side-effects. A small amount of dermal filler is injected underneath the skin in areas such as the balls of the foot and toe joints, where extra support is needed. The extra padding gives a natural cushion to your feet to make it more comfortable for your daily life, and to wear your heels in style. Dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) are most frequently used for foot cushioning. HA is a natural substance found in your body that attracts and binds to water, providing lubrication, hydration, and cushioning.

What can I expect during the treatment?

There will be an initial consultation to decide on the exact area of treatment, based on the condition to be treated and the desired outcome. The fillers are for adding extra cushion, and won’t affect the shape or look of the foot. The dermal fillers used at Sole Wellness are safe, but the sole of the foot is highly innervated, thus local anesthetics and pain reducing medications may be used for the procedure.

What can I expect after the treatment?

The time it takes for the whole procedure depends on the area being treated. For example, it takes 20-30 min for single toes and 1 -1.5 hours for the ball of the foot. The procedure has minimum downtime. The filler can last anywhere from 6-12 months as HA naturally breaks down within the body. However, the injections stimulate collagen formation which gives thickness in the tissues for up to 2 years. Your feet will be protected and comfortable, helping you be more active.

What kind of dermal fillers can be used on the foot?

All the dermal fillers brands can be used for the foot. Dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid are most frequently used for the foot.

Botox for Sweaty Feet

Do your feet feel soggy and sloppy all the time? Does sweat ruin your shoes? Are you afraid to wear sandals or flip-flops for fear that you'll slip right out of them? Do you leave damp footprints when you walk barefoot? Are your feet always cold because they are always wet?

These are just some of the experiences of people with extremely sweaty feet, or plantar hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis, also called excessive sweating, is a medical condition that affects different body areas including the feet. Fortunately, there are treatments available.

Treatments for sweaty feet include: antiperspirants, iontophoresis (a great option, learn more about it), and Botox injections.

Botox injections are a popular treatment choice for underarm excessive sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis) and may be used to manage excessive sweating on the hands and feet as well. You should know, however, that plantar injections of Botox (injections on the foot) can be slightly painful but there are pain relieving techniques that experienced physicians use and the results do not last as long as they do in the underarms. Typically, Botox injections in the feet tend to "wear off" in 3 to 4 months, meaning you'll need to return for re-treatment at that point. Be sure to learn about all your options.

In addition to the treatments mentioned above, there are a number of products and tips available to help make living with sweaty feet easier:

  • Shoe inserts help absorb moisture so your feet don't slip and shoes stay drier longer.

  • Powders can absorb moisture. (Avoid powders in the genital region or if there is risk of inhalation - especially for children/babies)

  • Shoe driers can help your shoes to dry thoroughly and quickly so they are ready to wear again, smell better, and last longer.
